Practicing gratitude is something that takes time to cultivate, but once you do your whole world can become magical. Being appreciative of the little things and the big things will give you a sense of peace and joy that’s inexplicable. What is gratitude might you ask, it is the state of mind of being grateful. Basically it is the opposite of complaining, instead of looking at everything going wrong, you make the decision to see the brighter side of things, and be thankful for what is going right. If you start looking on the bright side of things you will notice a better mood in yourself, positive experiences and less worry.
For so long I myself longed for peace and joy. I asked God how I could cultivate it, and after that I started getting divine messages from Him. I came across “The Secret”, which is a documentary/book that has a magical message and meaning. I won’t disclose the full secret because that would spoil it but I will say that the conversation of being grateful came up and it changed my perspective forever. I started a ritual of starting my day thanking the man up above for waking me up, putting my feet on solid ground and giving me the strength to use my body, limbs and functions.
I was without a car, and traveled by foot to school and work ( a distance of 20 minutes back and forth) in the rain, snow and shine. But I was still grateful for my ability to walk, and make it to my destinations safely. After a year, I was given a car by my Aunt (my heart) and I knew that it all started with God and gratitude. That’s the power of gratitude, making the best of your current situation and then being rewarded for it. God won’t give you more until you appreciate what you already have. And, sometimes if you don’t appreciate what you have he will take it away from you and it will lead you to that knowing. So I suggest that today you start this practice, and continue it on. Be consistent to see results, and then turn it into a habit. It is by far one of the best habits I’ve cultivated in my life, and it has given me so much joy and it can for you too.
